With much sadness we inform you that we have lost our company mascot, riding partner and equine friend Cosette to colic in the early hours of Thursday morning. It started out as a mild case but progressed as the day went on. We took her to Dr. Furlong’s clinic where she was administered IV fluids and where further diagnostic testing was performed. Surgery was recommended and performed late that evening however the surgeons discovered an advanced “infiltrated process” in the small intestine which they equated to cancer (quite rare we are told in horses). Since her chances for survival were very low we decided to have her euthanized.
For the 8 years that I had been riding Cosette she had never done anything to endanger my life, even as a very young horse. She would have been a “lap horse” if allowed and was passionate about her food & treats. It was a privilege to own such a magnificent and generous creature, a true gift from God who will be missed and always in our hearts.
To all you who already knew about our loss, your kind words and thoughtfulness are very much appreciated and really mean a lot.
